This is a phrase from a hymn that was sung in lots of small southern churches when I was a child. It has gone out of fashion in many churches to sing old hymns. Praise songs, which I do enjoy, have replaced hymns, but in the quiet times I still hear the old hymns echo their sweet messages. My husband and I were out driving in the Arkansas wilderness a few weeks ago and caught this magnificent sunset. Oh what peace!

God, enthroned, is holding his martyred son. One on side is St. George with lance and on the other St. Lawrence, who originally held a grid in his right hand.
St. Lawrence was a Deacon of the congregation in Rome and was roasted to death in 258.
The group of figures, made ca. 1500 in the so called "Imperialissima workshop" in Lubeck, originally formed the central part of an altarpiece.
